Citrus Valley hasn't had much luck against Valley View recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blackhawks will venture away from home to challenge the Eagles at 4:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Citrus Valley came up short against Alta Loma and fell 6-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley View). They were the clear victors by a 23-6 margin over Bishop Amat on Saturday. Considering the Eagles have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Ato Laumatia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits. Laumatia was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2025.
In other batting news, Shianne Jimenez was a standout: she went 1-for-5 with 12 doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Destiny Mendoza, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs.
Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Valley View's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Citrus Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Citrus Valley came up short against Valley View when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 9-5. Can the Blackhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
