The Murray Spartans will face off against the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Juan Diego Catholic will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Murray extended their winning streak to five on Monday. The Spartans put the hurt on Jordan with a sharp 16-3 win.
Summer Stewart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Murray let Zaylee Winterhalder and Maddie Bigelow run wild. Winterhalder went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Bigelow went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Bigelow has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Kimberlie Bauer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Murray kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Juan Diego Catholic got themselves on the board against Park City two weeks ago, but Park City never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Miners.
Mattie Montoya and Payton Volk did most of the damage at the plate: Montoya went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Volk went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Volk a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Sedillo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Murray's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Juan Diego Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
Juan Diego Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Murray has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Juan Diego Catholic, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 strikeouts.
