Basketball Recap: Potomac Senior Piles Up the Points Against Hylton

Potomac Senior had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 56-point drubbing they dealt Hylton on Friday. The Potomac Senior Panthers breezed by the Hylton Bulldogs to the tune of 90-34. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Potomac Senior's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amani Asare, who went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points. Asare's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Medwyn Oduko Authur, who went 8 for 9 on his way to 17 points and six boards.

Potomac Senior was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hylton only racked up three assists.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Anderson, who posted ten points. Those ten points gave Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Butler, who earned 13 points.

Potomac Senior pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Hylton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season.

Potomac Senior will venture away from home to take on Woodbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodbridge will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Potomac Senior surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hylton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 88-54 loss against Glen Allen on the 27th.
