The Basis Yeti and the Fort Thomas Apaches squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Basis Yeti had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a rough 72-41 loss at the hands of the Apaches. Basis found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 18 fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Basis had strong showings from Jack Engelthaler, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Daniel Quiroz, who scored 11 points along with three steals. That was a full 39% of Basis' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Fort Thomas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Damare Dosela, who dropped a double-double on 12 rebounds and 14 assists. Dosela is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Olivar, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Basis' loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Fort Thomas, they pushed their record up to 23-7 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Basis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Thomas, they will head out on the road to face off against Baboquivari at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Thomas is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
