The Floydada Whirlwinds will head out to square off against the Lockney Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Floydada knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Lockney likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Floydada got the win against Quanah by a conclusive 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Whirlwinds, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Manny Delafuente made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Peyton Noland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jeriah Jimenez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Memphis hit Lockney with a 14-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Longhorns fell just short of the Cyclones by a score of 21-19. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Floydada is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Lockney, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Floydada has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .542. However, it's not like Lockney struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Floydada got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 7th against Lockney by a conclusive 13-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Whirlwinds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
