The Montverde Academy Eagles had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lake Highland Prep 4-3. Winning may never get old, but Montverde Academy sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Estefania Gonzalez and
Lola Ressler, who scored all four of Montverde Academy's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 34 so far this season.
Montverde Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4-1 record this season. As for Lake Highland Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6-2.
Montverde Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Berkeley Prep at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Berkeley Prep knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Montverde Academy likes a good challenge. Lake Highland Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
