Winside is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Pender is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Winside Wildcats will take on the Pender Pendragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Winside beat Stanton 53-44.
Winside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Schutt led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. Schutt hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Hunt, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Pender was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Homer 68-27 on the road. The victory was just what Pender needed coming off of a 62-42 defeat in their prior matchup.
Winside's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Pender, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Winside didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Pender in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win. Will Winside repeat their success, or does Pender have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
