Football Recap: East Forsyth's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

East Forsyth and Weddington squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but East Forsyth had to settle for second. They took a hard 37-21 fall against the Weddington Warriors. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

East Forsyth's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Baker, who threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns. JP Gilchrist also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.

East Forsyth didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Robbie Whitney and Dominique Tshiboyi. Tshiboyi also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13. East Forsyth got some further help from Solomon Brown: he made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

It was another big night for Nick Diamond, who rushed for 279 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry for Weddington. With that strong performance, Diamond is now averaging an impressive 101.3 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Gregory Fee, who threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, East Forsyth fell to 13-1. As for Weddington, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

East Forsyth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Weddington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 35-23 loss against Grimsley on the 13th.
