Softball Recap: College Place Wins Going Away Against Zillah

College Place never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Zillah Leopards as they made off with a 14-0 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the Hawks' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Rio Hayes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adrienne Berube was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Graycelyn Tonn, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs.

College Place kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

College Place's record now sits at 10-1. As for Zillah, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: College Place beat the Leopards by a score of 11-0 later that day.
