Mays is 8-1 against Jackson since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Mays Raiders' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Jackson Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Mays has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Mays posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They breezed by Villa Rica on the road to the tune of 82-46. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-18.
Mays can attribute much of their success to Germani Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 26 rebounds, and Derron Lindsey ii, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Omari Barnes, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Jackson entered their tilt with Villa Rica with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Jackson came out on top against Villa Rica by a score of 71-62 on Friday. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Villa Rica is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mays pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.67 points. As for Jackson, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Mays came up short against Jackson when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 71-63. Can Mays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
