Baseball Recap: Franklin County Has No Trouble Against Crossroad Academy

While Franklin County put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Crossroad Academy. The Franklin County Seahawks were the clear victor by a 21-0 margin over the Crossroad Academy Scorpions. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.

Karcen Poloronis and Brennan Cook made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Poloronis pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cook tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At the plate, Poloronis scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Cook scored a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Franklin County got a massive performance out of Preston Klaus, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The dominant performance gave Klaus a new career-high in hits. Colby Blackburn was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Franklin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Franklin County's record is now 9-4. As for Crossroad Academy, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin County will challenge Holmes County at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Holmes County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Franklin County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Crossroad Academy, they will face off against FAMU DRS at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Crossroad Academy has given up an average of 20.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
