Elkhorn North will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Gretna Dragons  at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. Elkhorn North will be strutting in after a  victory while Gretna will be coming in after a  loss.
Elkhorn North gave up the first  runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them  down. They walked away with  a   6-1  win over Standing Bear.
 Max Yager looked comfortable as he  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit.
 On the hitting side,  Jake Janssen was a standout: he scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Ethan Asmus, who  scored a  run while going 3-for-4.
 Elkhorn North  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Standing Bear struck out seven times.
Gretna kicked off their season on the road  on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against  Papillion-LaVista South, falling  12-4.
  Hudson Epp made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI.  Joe Sullivan was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 Elkhorn North took their  victory against Gretna  in their previous meeting  back in March of 2024 by a conclusive  11-0. Will Elkhorn North repeat their success,  or does  Gretna has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
