Groton-Dunstable hasn't had much luck against Marlborough recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Groton-Dunstable turned things around against Fitchburg on Monday. They came out on top against the Red Raiders by a score of 11-6.

Kaitlin Haggerty made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Maddie Shamberger was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marlborough). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over South on Monday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Colonels recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Groton-Dunstable, Marlborough also got a great game from a two-way player: Shauna Bopp. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). Bopp was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Avery Horrigan was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with four runs and three RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Erin Seder, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Marlborough always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Marlborough's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Groton-Dunstable, their win bumped their record up to 2-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Groton-Dunstable has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marlborough struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Groton-Dunstable skirted past Marlborough 12-11 in their previous matchup on April 2nd. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
