The Avon Orioles will square off against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Avon has six straight victories, Hamilton Southeastern has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Avon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Plainfield with a sharp 14-1 win on Monday. That's two games straight that the Orioles have won by exactly 13 runs.

Isaac Kramer looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five matches.
At the plate, Wyatt Pennington was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brayden Salyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Avon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plainfield only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Southeastern fell victim to Bloomington South and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Royals have lost by exactly four runs.
Hamilton Southeastern also got a good showing from Dylan Cope, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cope has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hamilton Southeastern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Bixler, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Bixler has snagged this season.
Avon pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton Southeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Hamilton Southeastern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Avon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for Hamilton Southeastern, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Avon's hitters?
Avon was able to grind out a solid victory over Hamilton Southeastern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Do the Orioles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
