The Holley Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They suffered a tough 61-37 loss at the hands of Pembroke. Holley lost against Pembroke in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 60-34 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pembroke to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elle Peterson, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Peterson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Coniber, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.
Holley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Pembroke, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Barker at 6:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024. Pembroke will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
