Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is South View's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

South View lost to Purnell Swett back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-4 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

David Ramsey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Trey Ray was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for South View: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Koltyn Ziegler, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

South View is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Purnell Swett, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South View will face off against Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Purnell Swett, they will square off against Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.25 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
