Baseball Recap: Aztec Has No Trouble Against North Summit

While Aztec put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for North Summit. The Aztec Tigers put the hurt on the North Summit Braves with a sharp 17-0 victory. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Tyler Ray made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Aztec: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Aztec got a massive performance out of Cadin Anderson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Anderson has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dalton Wilmer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Aztec hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive matches.

The win got Aztec back to even at 3-3. As for North Summit, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Aztec wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Kirtland Central on the 13th. As for North Summit, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-4 loss against Grand County on the 8th.
