Baseball Game Preview: DeKalb Barons vs. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Braves

The DeKalb Barons will face off against the Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeKalb will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

While DeKalb didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Angola with a sharp 17-6 win on Monday. Considering the Barons have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryson Gadson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Gadson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Brockhouse, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Hall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian fell victim to Bellmont and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bellmont. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian hasn't had much luck with Bellmont recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

DeKalb's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

DeKalb took their win against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Barons repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
