Thomas More Prep-Marian had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They won a  game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Russell Broncos 7-6. For the Monarchs, this counts as revenge for the   26-6 defeat the Broncos walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in September of 2023.

 Despite the loss, Russell still got an impressive performance from   Walker Middleton, who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. The dominant performance gave  Middleton a new career-high in  rushing yards.
 Thomas More Prep-Marian will be defending their home-field for the first time this season they go up against Norton  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Russell, they will face off against Oakley at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
