Wilson Area extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 3-13. They fell 13-10 to the Pleasant Valley Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 15-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Iyanna Aponte made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Anna Schmitt, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Pleasant Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.
On Pleasant Valley's side, Rylee Green made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Green was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Pleasant Valley let Rylan Knapp and Lila Borger run wild. Knapp went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Borger went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run. Emma George was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Area will welcome Pen Argyl at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Green Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.88 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pleasant Valley, they will host Pocono Mountain West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
