Landmark Christian extended the longest winning streak in Sunshine State - South this week by beating Master's Academy, 47-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. The Hurricanes beat Merritt Island Christian 17-0 earlier in the week.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. R.J. Perciavalle threw for 94 yards and Colton Nussel had 47 yards receiving. On the ground Sammy Sullivan chipped in 56 yards. William Potosky helped Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's passing attack out by catching two balls for 42 yards.
Derrick Alexander's team's Perciavalle and Potosky have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Perciavalle has thrown for 685 yards this season, while Potosky, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 10 catches for 203 yards. Keland White from Landmark Christian leads the league in rushing with 372 yards.
A big matchup in Sunshine State - South this week will be when Mark Burdon's team takes on Life Academy. The Patriots are in second place, while the Lions are in fourth place.
Seffner Christian moved up to 453 from 479 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 26-0 win over Life Academy helped the Crusaders improve their standing.
