The Argenta-Oreana Bombers will square off against the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Argenta-Oreana will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Argenta-Oreana barely beat Clinton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bombers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Maroons a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bombers, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Elyssa Armstrong was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Armstrong was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kharma Giles was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Angelina Madrigal was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Argenta-Oreana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond posted their closest victory since April 26, 2024 on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Villa Grove 1-0.
Not much got past SOPHIA MONTS, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Villa Grove off the board.
On the hitting side, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was LONDON DUGAN, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Argenta-Oreana's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Argenta-Oreana hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
