Gray's Creek's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Purnell Swett 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Hailey McFarley's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Amariya Green, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was August Kebort, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.
Gray's Creek lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Seventy-First's offense. They lost 20-0 to South View on Friday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gray's Creek's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Seventy-First, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Seventy-First's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Gray's Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Seventy-First, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Gray's Creek keep running through batters, or will Seventy-First buck the trend?
