The Ayden - Grifton Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Farmville Central, falling 50-20. While losing is never fun, Ayden - Grifton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while Farmville Central is ranked 213th).
Farmville Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carma Wright, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nakevia Phillips, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Ayden - Grifton's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Farmville Central, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayden - Grifton will take on Greene Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greene Central is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Farmville Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Washington at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Washington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Thursday.
