The Illiana Christian Vikings had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Victory Christian Academy 53-14 at home. Illiana Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 25 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Illiana Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Olthof, who scored 11 points. Cheyenne DeJong was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Victory Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Illiana Christian pulled down 25 offensive rebounds.
Illiana Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Victory Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Illiana Christian will take on Whiting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Whiting focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Andrews Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrews Academy will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Victory Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
