Basketball Recap: Crystal River Takes a Loss

Crystal River lost against North Marion last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The match between the Crystal River Pirates and the North Marion Colts didn't end well, with the Crystal River Pirates falling 57-42. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Crystal River still got an impressive performance from Angel Hughes, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Hughes a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidian Cordero Santana, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Crystal River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

North Marion's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JAMEYA BROWN, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of JERMEA JACKSON, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Crystal River's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for North Marion, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

Crystal River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-43 victory against Citrus on the 13th. As for North Marion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-23 loss against West Port on the 12th.
