Basketball Recap: Greenbrier Christian Academy's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Greenbrier Christian Academy extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Katelyn Balka. The Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators came out on top against the Suffolk Christian Academy Knights by a score of 40-27 on Saturday thanks in part to Balka, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 17 boards, and 11 blocks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bayleigh Kaliher, who posted five points along with five assists and five boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted four or more steals the last four times she's played.

Greenbrier Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Suffolk Christian Academy, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Greenbrier Christian Academy and Atlantic Shores Christian will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Greenbrier Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 23 points per game this season, so Atlantic Shores Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Suffolk Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ahoskie Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Ahoskie Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
