On Friday, the Pender Pendragons were able to grind out a solid win over the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears, taking the game 49-42.
Owen Kneifl was a one-man wrecking crew for Pender as he rushed for 285 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Kneifl is now averaging an impressive 148 rushing yards per game. Trent Hansen also helped out with an impressive 89 receiving yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Pender was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 487 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge only gained 310.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drey Puppe, who picked up 140 receiving yards and a touchdown. Gibson Roberts was another key player, throwing for 186 yards and a touchdown.
The victory got Pender back to even at 1-1. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
