Football Recap: West Lafayette Takes a Loss

West Lafayette scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 44-43 to the Logansport Berries. The Red Devils were up 20-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the loss, West Lafayette had strong showings from Blake Biddle, who threw for 182 yards and two TDs, and Kojo Steffey, who rushed for 159 yards and one score while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Biddle got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 78 yards.

Elliot Baldini was his usual excellent self, rushing for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also picking up 32 receiving yards for Logansport. Baldini is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 115 every time he's taken the field this season.

This is the second loss in a row for West Lafayette and nudges their season record down to 2-5. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.5 points over those games. As for Logansport, their record now sits at 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. West Lafayette will challenge rival Twin Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Logansport is set to square off against their familiar foe Western at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Baldini and Matthew McKitrick.
