It was a good run, but the Rockmart Yellowjackets unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Fannin County by a score of 69-66. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Rockmart came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Fannin County is ranked 344th).
Rockmart lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Treylin Davis, who scored 17 points along with five assists. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Rockmart's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-1. As for Fannin County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.
Rockmart will be playing in front of their home fans against Cartersville at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Cartersville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Fannin County, they will head out on the road to face off against Haralson County at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
