Despite the loss, Buena Vista saw an underclassman step up: Mogtaba Mohamed scored eight points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Eli Smith, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Northeast suffered a tough 74-49 loss at the hands of the Bearcats on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lincoln Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Bearcats are ranked 46th).
Buena Vista's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Lincoln Northeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Buena Vista was taken down by the Rockets 96-24 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Buena Vista, Christian Winn (who scored 19 points along with two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
