Meanwhile, Fruita Monument took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Ponderosa.
Carson Hines looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Blake Elsberry was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
