Wabeno/Laona won the last time they faced Three Lakes/Phelps, and things went their way on Friday, too. Wabeno/Laona came out on top in a nail-biter against Three Lakes/Phelps, sneaking past 29-26. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
The victory bumped Wabeno/Laona's record up to 2-1. The loss dropped Three Lakes/Phelps back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Wabeno/Laona will look to defend their home turf next week against Crivitz at 7:00 PM. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous games. As for Three Lakes/Phelps, they will face off against Elcho/White Lake. With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the win.
