Christ the King is 0-10 against Lincoln Charter since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Christ the King Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln Charter Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Christ the King has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Lincoln Charter will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Friday, Christ the King ended up a good deal behind Community School of Davidson and lost 65-48. While losing is never fun, Christ the King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Community School of Davidson is ranked 147th).
Despite their defeat, Christ the King saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Parker Ryan, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Drew Reimels, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, even though Winston-Salem Christian scored an imposing 63 points last Saturday, Lincoln Charter still came out on top. Lincoln Charter came out on top in a nail-biter against Winston-Salem Christian and snuck past 65-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Lincoln Charter has posted yet this season.
Lincoln Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cairo Morales out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Morales is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Kelan Flowers was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Christ the King's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Lincoln Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Tuesday's match will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Marco Tampoya and Flowers. Tampoya has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 14.9 points and 2.6 steals. For his part, Flowers has averaged 15.7 points, 2.6 steals, and 4.1 assists.
Christ the King came up short against Lincoln Charter in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 70-65. Thankfully for Christ the King, Elijah Burnett (who scored 17 points along with three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
