The matchup between the Castlemont Knights and the Oakland Wildcats on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Castlemont had to suffer through a rough 98-12 loss at the hands of Oakland. Castlemont has not had much luck with Oakland recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Oakland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Da'sean Armstrong out in front who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Armstrong scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Couraji West, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Castlemont bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.1 points per game. As for Oakland, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Castlemont will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Oakland won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Santa Cruz at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th.
