Chugiak has gone 9-1 against Dimond recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Mustangs will square off against the Lynx at 12:00 p.m. Chugiak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Chugiak is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 12-8 win over Bettye Davis East Anchorage. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Thunderbirds on their field since May 24, 2024.
Chugiak got a massive performance out of Aubree Sims, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases Sims has posted since back in April. Brooklyn McCormick was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Meanwhile, Dimond faced Juneau-Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lynx skirted past the Crimson Bears 9-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lynx as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Aubree Ogee made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ogee was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rachel Whetten, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kea D'Elia, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Chugiak's win bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Dimond, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Chugiak has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Dimond struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
