This season hasn't been kind to the Vaughn White Tigers, who are still winless after their 16th game. They took a 69-50 bruising from Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences on Wednesday. Vaughn was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Vaughn still got an impressive performance from Andrew Gonzalez, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Adam Andrade was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Vaughn's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vaughn will take on Northridge Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sherman Oaks CES at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Sherman Oaks CES knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences likes a good challenge.
