Lawrence-Nelson is 2-8 against Deshler since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Lawrence-Nelson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Wyatt Frey, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards, and Caden Culbertson, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The game was Frey's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Caleb Griffis was another key player, putting up six points.
Lawrence-Nelson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Superior only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Deshler strolled past Blue Hill with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 64-50.
Lawrence-Nelson better keep an eye on Kaden Kleen. He was instrumental in Deshler's win, going 8-for-16 on his way to 24 points and three steals. Those 24 points gave Kleen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Sieber, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.
Lawrence-Nelson pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Deshler, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lawrence-Nelson has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Deshler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
