Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Oconee walked away with it. They walked away with a 70-60 win over the McDonough Warhawks on Saturday. The Titans are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 27 straight.
McDonough's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Greene, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 19 points and five boards. Greene is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Zaiden Greene was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.
North Oconee's victory bumped their record up to 29-2. As for McDonough, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-6.
Coming up, North Oconee will take on Pace Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Oconee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Pace Academy likes a good challenge. McDonough does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
