Even though the McDonald Blue Devils have not done well against the Springfield Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McDonald sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 victory over Springfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win McDonald has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McDonald to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joey Cappuzzello, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Brady Klockner, who scored 12 points.
McDonald's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
McDonald will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lowellville at 7:00 p.m. Lowellville will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Springfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Jackson-Milton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson-Milton is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
