Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fernandina Beach walked away with it. They won by a goal and slipped past the War Eagles 3-2. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Fernandina Beach was the better team in the second half.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Sarah Benjamin and
Julianna Miller, who scored all three of Fernandina Beach's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 23 so far this season.
Meanwhile, South Walton came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Paxon School For Advanced Studies as South Walton made off with a 7-0 victory. South Walton might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 contests by three goals or more this season.
Fernandina Beach has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. As for South Walton, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.
