The Sparta Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Westfield Area on the road and fell 71-32. Sparta was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.
Tiana Leis and Amelia Russ certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Leis dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Russ scored 5 points.
Sparta's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Westfield Area, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Baraboo the next time they take the court. Sparta will host Baraboo at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Westfield Area will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
