Basketball Recap: Rise Kohyang Piles Up the Points Against Smidt Tech

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rise Kohyang). They claimed a resounding 71-24 win over the Smidt Tech Grey Wolves. The Tritons pushed the score to 55-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grey Wolves had no chance of recovering from.

Rise Kohyang had a senior duo take command as I Joey dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 steals and Sidney Sellick went 11 for 24 on his way to 30 points and eight steals. Sellick's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Antonio, who posted six points and 12 rebounds.

Rise Kohyang's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Smidt Tech, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Rise Kohyang will take on Esperanza College Prep in a holiday battle at at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smidt Tech, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on The School of Los Angeles at 2:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
