The Hampton County Hurricanes can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Barnwell, posting a 57-23 victory on the road. The win was just what Hampton County needed coming off of a 65-38 loss in their prior matchup.
Despite the loss, Barnwell saw an underclassman step up: Kaylen Mayes scored 15 points. That was a full 65.2% of Barnwell's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hampton County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Barnwell, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Hampton County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ridgeland-Hardeeville at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Ridgeland-Hardeeville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Monday. As for Barnwell, they will be playing at home against Edisto at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Edisto is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
