The King's Academy Lions will take on the Boca Raton Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
King's Academy's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Olympic Heights as they made off with a 12-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for King's Academy, who have now won three matches in a row.
Emma Thornton was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Gracyn Needle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
King's Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olympic Heights struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Boca Raton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Sharks.
Myah Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Caverly, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Raegan Lisco, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Boca Raton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for King's Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. King's Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .401. However, it's not like Boca Raton struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
