The Valdosta Wildcats won the last time they faced the Westover Patriots, and things went their way on Friday too. The stars were shining brightly for Valdosta in a 59-41 victory over Westover. Given Valdosta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Westover is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Israel Jenrette was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Jenrette is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chase Holmes, who scored 17 points.
Valdosta's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Westover, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-5.
