Clovis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-17 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eunice Cardinals. Even though they lost, the Wildcats' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.8 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Amor Soto led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those runs were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlynn Chavez-Marin, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Soto wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Clovis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Clovis' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Eunice, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Coming up, Clovis will challenge Mora at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eunice, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Loving at 3:00 p.m.
