The Mainland Buccaneers will square off against the University Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mainland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Mainland after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Taylor by a score of 5-4. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mainland got a big performance out of Trevor Pittman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Pittman is becoming a predictor of the Buccaneers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jordan Payne, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, University won against East River on Saturday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Titans beat Trinity Christian Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Law Collin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carlos Martinez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonso Delgado, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
University now has a winning record of 11-10-2. As for Mainland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
University's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mainland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. It's a different story for University, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Mainland's hitters?
Mainland suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to University in their previous matchup back in February of 2015. Will the Buccaneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
