Payette has won three straight games at home, while Fruitland has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. Payette will welcome Fruitland at 5:30 p.m. Payette is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Payette hadn't beaten New Plymouth on the road since March 21, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Payette walked away with a 12-8 victory over New Plymouth.
Jahzyon Sylva made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Darrien Pecunia, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Barrera, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fruitland earned a 7-4 win over West Point on Thursday.
Fruitland also got a great performance from Owen Baker as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Coye Coffman was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Sutton Fitch was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Payette is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Fruitland's win bumped their record up to 10-0.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Payette has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. However, it's not like Fruitland struggles in that department as they've averaged .531. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Payette couldn't quite get it done against Fruitland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 12-7. Will Payette have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
