The Kings Mountain Mountaineers will head out to square off against the South Caldwell Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kings Mountain will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Kings Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Huss 25-0 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Mountaineers brought their scoring average up to 8.8 runs per game.
Lincoln McDaniel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. McDaniel was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other pitching news, Gavyn Manion looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kings Mountain is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
Back at the plate, KJ Bell was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Carter Roberts, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Kings Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .621. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday South Caldwell's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Watauga. The two-run effort marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
South Caldwell's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kings Mountain, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Kings Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over South Caldwell when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. Does Kings Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Caldwell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
